Ethie Mains is on the east
coast of Angus 2 miles from the village of Inverkeilor,
between the towns of Arbroath (10 minutes) and Montrose
(15 minutes) and the cities of Dundee (40 minutes) and
Aberdeen (1 hr). It is marked on some maps as Ethie
Mains or Red Head (the cliffs). Map
The house is situated, at the end of a private road,
between the spectacular red sandstone cliffs, known as
the Red Head, and Lunan Bay - a wonderful long sandy
beach. It is set in 650 acres of beautiful farmland and
has 2 secluded gardens.
DATES:
The Open Golf Championship 2007 at Carnoustie will be
played between 19-22 July 2007 - accommodation dates and
arrival and departure times at Ethie Mains can be
arranged to suit you.
TRAVEL
TO THE GOLF:
Ethie Mains house is 25 minutes from Carnoustie by
car. We can take and collect you to and from the golf,
or in order to avoid the traffic you can be dropped at
Arbroath station for a 10 minute train ride directly to
the golf course at Carnoustie.
We can arrange pick ups from any Scottish airport. We
are 2 hrs from Edinburgh and Glasgow, 1 hr from Aberdeen
and 40 minutes from Dundee. The nearest train station is
Arbroath (10 minutes). Trains run to Arbroath directly
from Kings Cross London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
ACCOMMODATION:
The house is large,
comfortable and centrally heated with 6 double/twin
bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (1 ensuite) and 3 downstairs
cloakrooms. A
large drawing room with TV, DVD and CD systems available
for use of guests. Internet broadband is also available.
BREAKFAST
AND DINNER:
Cooked breakfast
included. Dinner
and packed lunches can be provided. When possible food
will be sourced from the garden, farm or locally. We
have our own organic beef, soay lamb, venison, game and
chickens. We have home grown vegetables and fruit from
the garden.
A laundry service will be
available.
